Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Packed with Protein – This protein fluff delivers a hefty dose of protein thanks to the whey protein powder and optional peanut butter. It’s a great post-workout snack or even a filling dessert!
  • Light and Fluffy – Despite being protein-packed, this treat is light and airy, giving you that dessert-like feel without being too heavy.
  • Quick and Easy – With just a few ingredients and a food processor, you can whip this up in about 5 minutes. It’s a great option for busy days when you need something fast but nutritious.
  • Customizable – Whether you love peanut butter, almond butter, or want to toss in some frozen fruit, this recipe is super easy to customize based on your flavor preferences.

Ingredients Needed

Ingredients measured out to make Peanut Butter Cup Protein Fluff: Skinny Dipped peanut butter cup, ice, almond milk, frozen banana, chocolate whey protein powder and peanut butter.
  • chocolate whey protein powder – the base of this recipe! I used Clean Simple Eats, but you can use any whey protein powder you love. Chocolate adds that rich, dessert-like flavor, but feel free to experiment with different flavors if you want to mix things up.
  • frozen banana (optional) – this is totally optional, but adding frozen banana gives the fluff a creamy texture and a natural sweetness. Plus, it helps with that thick, fluffy consistency we all love.
  • almond milk – just a little bit of almond milk is all you need to get things blending smoothly. I like using unsweetened almond milk, but any non-dairy or regular milk will work.
  • ice – the key to making this fluffy and thick! You’ll need ice to give it that light, airy texture.
  • peanut butter (optional) – for a little extra flavor and creaminess, add a spoonful of peanut butter.
  • skinny dipped peanut butter cup (for topping) – I like adding a chopped Skinny Dipped peanut butter cup on top for a fun and delicious finishing touch. It’s the perfect little bit of crunch to complement the fluffiness!

Substitutions

  • Banana – If you’re not a fan of bananas or want to switch things up, you can leave it out completely or swap it for frozen berries, avocado (for creaminess), or even a little Greek yogurt for extra protein.
  • Peanut Butter – If you prefer almond butter, cashew butter, or even a nut-free option like sunflower seed butter, feel free to swap out the peanut butter. They all work great and bring a different flavor to the fluff.

How to Make Protein Fluff

Ingredients for a peanut butter cup protein fluff in a food processor before being blended.

Step 1: Add protein powder, banana, ice, almond milk and peanut butter to your food processor.

Step 2: Process for 3-5 minutes until mixture is combined, ice is completely combined and mixture is smooth and fluffy.

Brittany’s Tip

The secret to getting that light, airy texture is to blend the mixture for a full 3-5 minutes. It might seem like a long time, but this extra blending helps the protein fluff achieve the perfect fluffy consistency, similar to a whipped dessert.

Topping Ideas

I personally love keeping things simple with just a drizzle of peanut butter or some fresh berries on top, but there are so many ways you can enjoy this protein fluff! Here are a few ideas to get creative with your toppings!

  • Fresh Fruit – You can’t go wrong with fresh fruit! I love adding berries like blueberries or raspberries for a pop of color and natural sweetness. Sliced bananas or some diced mango also work really well if you’re feeling a tropical vibe.
  • Chopped Nuts – For some extra crunch and healthy fats, sprinkle on a handful of chopped almonds, walnuts, or pecans.
  • Granola – A little granola on top is always a good idea! It adds a nice crunch and turns the protein fluff into more of a parfait-style treat.
  • Cacao Nibs or Dark Chocolate Chips – If you’re like me and always need a little chocolate, a sprinkle of cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips is the perfect addition. They add just the right amount of chocolatey goodness without going overboard.
  • Nut Butter Drizzle – Can’t get enough peanut butter? Drizzle a bit more on top, or switch things up with almond butter or sunflower seed butter.
  • Coconut Flakes – Sprinkle some unsweetened coconut flakes over your fluff. It gives it that chewy texture and a subtle sweetness that pairs so well with the peanut butter and banana.

Storing Protein Fluff

This recipe is really best enjoyed right away as it will likely lose that fluffiness when stored. But, if you do have leftovers you can store in the refrigerator for one day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use frozen banana?

Not at all! The banana is optional, but it helps with the creaminess and sweetness. You can leave it out if you prefer or substitute it with frozen berries, Greek yogurt, or even a small amount of avocado for creaminess.

What if my fluff isn’t thick enough?

If your fluff turns out too thin, try adding more ice or freezing the banana longer before blending. You can also reduce the amount of almond milk to make it thicker. Blending for a few extra minutes can also help achieve that light, airy texture.

What’s the best way to serve protein fluff?

Protein fluff is versatile! You can serve it as a light snack, in a bowl with your favorite toppings (like nuts, fruit, or granola), or even as a base for a smoothie bowl. It’s great on its own or paired with additional textures and flavors.

I used what I had on hand. I had vanilla organic protein powder. And I used a blender. Homemade high protein peanut butter cup. And I Donโ€™t enjoy ice in my smoothies, so Iโ€™ll use a combination of frozen almond/ oat milk ( frozen in regular ice tray) and frozen cubed non fat plain vogues. With a dash of honey.
A lot more calories. The trade off is Much more Protein. Delicious.
Kinda seems like I used your recipe as a Guide ๐Ÿ˜Š
