This healthy guacamole with frozen peas is lower in fat and calories, but tastes just as delicious as the real deal. The peas add a subtle sweetness and give the guac a vibrant green color!

Secret Ingredient for Healthy Guacamole
I know a guacamole purist won’t like this idea, but my healthy guacamole recipe has a secret ingredient = frozen peas. I know what you’re thinking… peas in guacamole, what?!? But donโt worry, no one will be able to detect that you used peas in place of some of the avocado. It tastes just as good as the real deal, maybe even better.
In my mind, there’s nothing unhealthy about regular guacamole. Avocado is a healthy fat. That said, using frozen peas in place of a couple extra avocados makes this guacamole lower in calories and fat per serving. Which basically means you can eat more. As a volume eater this makes me a happy camper. I also have an easy guacamole recipe if you’re looking to stick to the original!
I canโt take credit for this idea. The original recipe is actually from Rancho La Puerta, a resort and spa in Baja, California that I visited a few years ago.
I know some of you may be nervous to add frozen peas to your guacamole, but you have to trust me on this one. I donโt play around when it comes to guacamole and this version is delicious. As an added bonus, the peas keep the guacamole looking extra green since they donโt turn brown like avocados do.
My recommendation — try the recipe for yourself this weekend and let me know how you like it. If you’re making it for a party or family gathering, I highly recommend doubling the recipe. It will go quick.. trust me!

It tastes lovely but need to rember it isn’t guacamole. I had it with nachos but think it would be lovely in a sandwich too.
Glad you enjoyed it with nachos! A sandwich sounds tasty, too!
Why would you peel an avacado before cutting it in half and taking the pit out.? Why not just cut it in the skin and scoop it out. Less messy?
You can skip peeling the avo!
I like to quarter and peel my avocados in case they’re not perfect under the skin.
Sometimes there are small rotten spots that I don’t want to eat.
I just made this today and itโs gone! My boyfriend and I inhaled it for brunch! So good. Thank you!
Ah yay! I love hearing this! So glad it was a hit, Leigh-Anne. Thanks so much for the review ๐
Oh my yummmm!! There’s a good chance this will be gone by the end of the day. I love the freshness and sweetness the peas add–definitely my new favorite guac!!
Ah yay! So glad this guacamole was a hit, Erica! Thanks for trying it and coming back to leave a review. I really appreciate it!
Hello,
Avocado is not easily available in India. Could please suggest me a substitute for it. I loved this recipe.
Thanks much ๐
Hey Pooja – Avocados are a big component to this recipe and I’m not really sure there would be a good substitute for them.
I made it 100% with peas and it’s great!
So glad this turned out great for you!
