This colorful fruit salad with berries and melon is lightly sweetened with maple syrup and topped with fresh mint. It’s a refreshing and flavorful take on traditional fruit salad โ perfect for summer snacking!
As you know, I’m a salad lover through and through and that includes fruit salads! This salad is so refreshing. I love making it ahead of time to snack on all week long and you can pretty much guarantee it will be at every potluck I attend!

I love that fruit salads are so easy to put together โ all you have to do is chop the fruit and mix! Plus, the possibilities are endless. Whatever fresh fruit you have on hand (or is on sale) will work. I mean I guess you could potentially come up with a bad tasting combo of fruit for a fruit salad but I donโt think Iโve ever had one.
What Kind of Fruit to Use
My one fruit salad rule is that you MUST use fresh fruit. Canned fruit is definitely a no-go (just donโt!) and frozen fruit makes the fruit salad too juicy (in my opinion). I’m also not a huge fan of bananas in fruit salad. They stick to other fruit, turn brown and get too mushy.
The combination I came up for this recipe is nice because it involves a bunch of different textures and flavors. I love the juiciness of the pineapple, the crunch of the apple and the sweetness from the melon and strawberries. I think grapes would a nice addition as well โ I just didnโt have any on hand.
Don’t Skip the Dressing!
The one component that you donโt want to skip is the fresh orange juice, maple and mint dressing. All three components add a nice pop of flavor to the salad, especially the fresh mint. It also makes it a bit more special than a simple bowl of fruit โ something youโd feel good about serving for brunch or bringing to a party.
How to Serve this Fruit Salad
I love this salad on its own as a snack but it’s also a great side or even dessert for your next picnic! I know some people don’t consider fruit to be dessert so if that’s you, this fruit salad is delicious on top of ice cream, dipped in melted dark chocolate or topped with a dollop of coconut whipped cream. Yum!

Hi, any ideas on subbing cantaloupe? I’m afraid it’s hard to come by in my area ๐
