Our son loved this recipe as a baby and still loves it as a toddler. Sometimes we do half milk and half water instead of water only, and we usually add plain Greek yogurt to help it cool down faster. Thanks for the recipe!

In reply to Brittany Mullins.

I have a hard time finding things my 10 month old wants to eat for breakfast. She is not a big breakfast girl! Made this with gluten free rolled oats and honeycrisp apple instead of banana (she doesn’t like bananas) She gobbled it up!! Will definitely be making for her again. Thank you!

Quick oats are not precooked oats in anyway. All oats quick and old fashioned have steam added to them. The only difference between quick and old fashion is the flake thickness. Quick is thinner and the fines meaning the breakage is added back into the oats. That is why it cooks faster. You had a lot of good information but that part is incorrect.

Hi Jeanette – I have not tried this recipe with the organic sprouted oats, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. You could use the frozen banana, but just know it might be more watery because of the liquid from the banana defrosting. Let me know how this recipe turns out for you, enjoy!

I have a couple of questions before making your recipe. Do you see any reason why I can’t use organic sprouted oats? The package indicates 1/3 cup of oats to 3/4 cup of water. Also, can I use a frozen banana. I was saving it for banana nut bread so it’s very ripe. Thanks

I made the oatmeal cereal for my 6 month old, and he ate it 2 parts oats and 1 part fruit puree. He was excited to eat it, and it was very filling. It took much less to fill him up than when using baby rice cereal. It was good for dipping big pieces of banana in for chewing on. Also it washed off of everyone/thing easily. Always a bonus when babies eat like feral blenders.

This was a big hit with my 10-month-old! I switched out the peanut butter for almond butter, and I added a splash of almond milk along with a tiny bit of agave. It was so delicious that I ate part of it myself. Thanks for sharing!

My daughter loves these oats! They’re a quick and easy way to get peanut butter exposure in which is an added bonus. Thanks for the baby recipes!

My 12 month old gobbled this up! I think the addition of the bananas during the cooking process made for a nicer texture than other oatmeals I’ve tried making.
