Hi, Liz! Cooking makes the food easier to digest and allows the absorption of more nutrients from the food. However, some foods like banana and avocado don’t need to be cooked at all.

I had been blending a lot of my fruit/veg raw. Is the thought that steamed is easier to digest? Just curious. Thanks!

I think this is such a great blog, however I’m curious, if you were to make a banana and avocado combination, would that keep in the freezer at all or be a strictly only kept for a couple of days in the fridge sort of situation? Thanks again for such great information and wonderful ideas

I made these for my 7 month old and she loves them! I was struggling to get her to eat solids in the beginning and then came across these recipes. Makes me feel good to make her food instead of always using jar baby food. Would love any more recipes your daughter enjoyed at this age!!

These are absolutely wonderful! I was very overwhelmed when it came to starting my my baby on solid foods. I take a very cautious approach. These recipes took away all the guessing and my anxiety. They are easy to follow and absolutely delicious! My baby gobbled them up!

Hey Ashley – Yes, steaming your veggies in a rice cooker should be totally fine! The cook time probably depends on the type of rice steamer you have. Here’s an article I found that might be helpful.

Hey Lauren! I actually don’t have a ton on my blog. I do have this baby oatmeal recipe and I have a few in the works. I do have these baby chicken salad and baby chia pudding recipes on IG and if you go to my IG story highlights I have one that’s “baby food” where I share a lot of the food I make for Liv. 🙂

Made a few of these for my 6 month old yesterday. It was time consuming of course but they turned out really great and she is loving them!!! It was nice to make a big batch so she is set for a while. Do you have any posts on things you tried once your little one outgrew purées? Thank you for providing so much detail! I wanted to try homemade but was not sure where to start so this was super helpful.

I love your website! I found it through pinterest when looking up baby food recipes. I was wondering? Are you able to steam vegetables and fruits in a rice steamer? I have a nutriware rice steamer and have been trying to search for instructions on how to use the steamer I have for the fruits and vegetables but I havent found anything yet. I saw where you put how long to steam them and was wondering if I should just go by that time or if it would be different since it is a rice steamer?

Hi! Thanks for sharing this great info! How long do you steam the kale? Do each of these recipes make one 4oz batch?

I love how thorough this post is! I always knew I wanted to make my own baby food but had a hard time figuring out where to start. Your steps are simple and easy to follow! My son is 7 months old and loved the sweet potato apple cinnamon. I can’t wait to try the rest!
